The expansion of a highly regarded Arizona Charter School in 2020 represents one memorable project that demonstrated Adaptive Shelter’s ability to create alternative building solutions under a tight budget – and an even tighter timeline. The school recognized the growing demand of the area and made the decision to expand its offerings from only Kindergarten through second grade, to now accommodate students up to sixth grade.

 THE CHALLENGE

The local charter school needed to allow for exponential student body growth in a remarkably short time frame. In fact, the “new” classroom space had to be available in just four months from the first meeting. Not to mention, Adaptive Shelters had a modest budget it needed to stick to so there was exactly zero room for error.

THE SOLUTION

The end result for additional classroom space for students and faculty was comprised of “new” modular classrooms totaling 7,056 square feet. Because of their diligence and specific expertise in the arena, Adaptive Shelters was able to deliver the additional classroom space within four months of first contact with the new client. The success was a product of the collaborative effort between the school, architect, general contractor, and Adaptive Shelters. This also included effectively cooperating with the local jurisdiction and Arizona Department of Housing

(ADOH). Other factors that played a role were the long-standing relationships and proactive nature that the alternative building solutions specialist brought to the table.

THE RESULT

Today, the charter school stands proudly as it was able to quickly and comfortably enroll many more students! The “new” modular classrooms are fully functional while being aesthetically pleasing. The school is empowered to continue growing its enrollment and offer more parents/students this education experience in a charter school environment.

“Adaptive Shelters really came through for us. When our enrollment increased, we needed a solution for more classroom space in just a four-month time frame. Adaptive Shelters helped design, deliver on-time, and stay within budget for our new fiscal year. Of all my years in education, this has been the most effective and efficient experience I’ve had while working with a modular building company,” said Barb D., Sr. Director of Planning and Building Development at the Arizona Charter School in.
